Use the exact dock manual
Start with the installation instructions for the exact dock variant. A product's width, depth and height are only its physical dimensions. They do not include approach space, tank-lifting room, maintenance access or any ventilation requirements.
Plan a usable location
Check for a flat, dry floor, suitable power and Wi-Fi reception. Keep the approach clear and check that the robot can travel from the dock to the intended rooms. Requirements can differ substantially between a tall tank dock and a compact refill-and-drainage dock.
Do not build a cabinet from a marketing photo
Before carpentry, ask for the installation drawing. Confirm the space needed to open lids, remove tanks, replace a dust bag and take out the wash tray. Have the supplier approve the cabinet opening and service access in writing.
Treat plumbing as a separate installation
A water inlet, a suitable drain, pressure requirements and safe routing all need checking for a plumbed system. Have the supplier or a qualified installer assess the site; do not assume a bathroom tap and floor trap are enough. Keep power away from leaks and do not alter mains wiring yourself.
Keep a handover checklist
Record the model and dock variant, included accessories, tested route, map, no-go zones, maintenance procedure and who to contact for a leak or setup problem. Keep the manufacturer's current manual with the purchase receipt.
